Meet The Captain

Tanner Severt

Captain Tanner Severt has lived the majority of his life in Orlando, Florida. His roots are in the mountains of North Carolina where he began his passion for everything outdoors. As a kid, Tanner fell in love with saltwater fly fishing watching Walker’s Cay Chronicles on ESPN’s Saltwater Sunday. He began fishing Mosquito Lagoon & Indian River out of a Gheenoe when he was 14 years old and he does not plan on stopping anytime soon.

When Tanner turned 17 and was in search for his first job, it was a natural fit to seek out East Cape Skiffs located locally in Orlando, FL. Continuing his passion for fly fishing, Tanner learned the ins and outs of building high-quality boats.

Tanner has poled almost every square foot of Mosquito Lagoon. Seeing Redfish crawling down the bank is one of the moments Tanner lives for. In the spring, however, he can be found chasing Tarpon throughout South Florida.

When Tanner isn’t guiding he still spends his time on the water fishing with his wife, Lisa, and good friends. Being outdoors camping with his Labradors Gage, Pete & Ted, and hunting during his slow season are some of his favorite ways to spend downtime.

It also doesn't hurt to have a rain jacket on hand for afternoon storms because, after all, this is Florida. You never know when a rain shower might rear its head and cool us off during the afternoon.
